First Line Supervisors (Drillers) who work on a drilling rig.

TOPICS INCLUDE:

  • Causes and warning signs of kicks
  • Shut-in procedures
  • Crew positions and duties during well control operations
  • Procedures for circulating out influxes
  • Government regulations

OUTCOMES:

Upon successful completion of this course and examination, you will receive a Certificate of Completion that is valid for three years.

Students who successfully complete Rig Tech 2 (which includes the First Line Supervisor’s Blowout Prevention theory) are eligible to challenge the exam within 90 days of completion and verification.

If you fail the exam following the course or when taking a challenge exam, you are allowed one rewrite within a 30 day period. Rewrite fees apply. If at any time the exam is failed twice, you will be required to retake the full four-day program.

CERTIFICATE RENEWAL:

If you hold a valid certificate, you may take this course up to three months in advance of the expiration of your certificate. Then, upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion that is valid for three years from the expiry of your old certificate.The examination may be challenged every second renewal, provided your current certification has not expired.
